Linda made the CUTEST little Halloween treat boxes on the A Muse Studio blog here. They inspired this gingerbread house treat box. I modified the box to fit my needs. It really is easy to make any die a treat box when you apply the formula.
Like Linda, I started with the measurement of the Gingerbread Tag Die from the A Muse Studio 2015 Holiday Catalog ($9.95). Die cut two gingerbread tag die houses. The width of the lower half of the house is 1 7/8″ so I need to make my box a bit smaller – 1 3/4″. The measurement from the bottom of the house to the roof is 1 1/8″ so I made the height of my box base 1″ high.
To calculate the size of cardstock you need, you’ll need:
1″ side HEIGHT + 1.75″ bottom WIDTH + 1″ side HEIGHT = 3.75″
I didn’t want my box to be square so here’s were I modified. Instead of cutting a 3.75″ square, I want a narrow box for three Hershey kisses in a treat bag. To change the depth of the box from 1.75 to .75 it looks like this:
1″ side HEIGHT + .75 bottom DEPTH + 1″ side HEIGHT = 2.75″
Cut your base 3.75″ x 2.75″ then score at 1 inch all around. Then fold up same as Linda’s square base box. Fun! AND the possibilities are ENDLESS.
Wanna make one? Join us for stamp class at 7pm on Monday December 21st. This is going to be a little bonus project. Everyone was just crazy over this little treat so we’ll make one! Stamp classes are just $13 and are held at my Rolling Meadows, IL home studio. All Chicago area stampers are welcome. Register for class here.
Such a cute box – I don’t think I could’ve wrapped my head around the measurements. 🙂 Brilliant!
