how to make a card – my card making and paper crafting process

Hello from your A Muse Studio Consultant! It is a chilly rainy day. I call that stamping weather! I am locked in my studio all day today. There is so much that I have to get done for YOU! I thought I might talk to you today about my creative process. Lots of stampers ask me how I make a card or paper craft project. It varies, but often starts this way:
A Muse Studio Bottle Rockets
First I will choose a color palette, I usually do that with A Muse Studio Card Stock. Here I have:

  • A Muse Studio Honeycomb Cardstock (available June 2015) in Sky, Navy and Apple
  • A Muse Studio Mini Dot Cardstock (available June 2015) in those same colors
  • A Muse Studio Solid Cardstock in Navy, Sky, Apple and Sugar
  • Then once my color palette develops, I grabbed my Amuse stamps. This color palette was begging to be paired with A Muse Studio Bottle Rockets (also available June 2015).
Last step before I get started with the actual card making is to do a mad grab of any A Muse Studio Dies, accessories and embellishments that fit or enhance the theme that is developing.
A Muse Studio Dies and Treat Bags
As you can see from the picture, I don’t hold back! I grab anything that might work or anything that I might want to feature. Obviously I can not use all of this on one handmade card or paper craft project. The object is to get the creative juices flowing and make more than one card or project in a sitting. I need to be efficient to keep you inspired.
Well, that’s it for today. Come back Wednesday for a look at one of the handmade cards I made with this pile of A Muse Studio goodies!

2014 A Muse Studio Holiday Catalog Preview

    A Muse Studio Sugar Skulls
I have been so busy with Camp Wanna Stamp and preparing for the St. Charles Scrapbook Expo Show – I am sorry it’s been a bit quiet around here. I thought I would pop in with a fun A Muse Studio 2014 Holiday Catalog Sneak Peek. This card features the brand new A Muse Studio Sugar Skulls stamp set. It’s one of the 8 new Halloween stamp sets that A Muse Studio is offering in the new holiday catalog. What do you think? Creepy good, yes?
Let me tell you about the background on this card. If you read my blog you will most likely recognize the pattern in the background – it’s the A Muse Studio Half Circle Papel Picado Die. Like with the Splash! ink backgrounds I used a Clear Cardstock stencil to mask. Instead of spraying Splash Ink I used VersaMark ink. I just applied the ink direct to paper over the stencil. Lift the stencil and sprinkle Simple Stick Embossing Powder over the ink to reveal the pattern. Heat with your embossing tool to make the powder sticky. Sprinkle Onyx Glitter over the Simple Stick and shake off the excess. Heat the design again to set the glitter into the Simple Stick Adhesive and allow to cool. These A Muse Studio Papel Picado Dies are limitless!
OK time for a FREE offer! Want a FREE 2014 A Muse Studio Holiday Catalog? Come visit me at the St. Charles Scrapbook Expo Show and mention this post. I will give you a free Amuse Holiday Catalog! That’s easy right?! See ya in St. Charles.

Squeeze the Day – Thank you

    Squeeze the Day
A Muse Studio Squeeze the Day was my favorite new stamp set when the 2013 catalog debuted. I still love it! I made a bunch of these handmade thank you cards to send to family and friends. I am thanking them for their support during a recent crisis in my life. I had a health scare. The tests ruled out MS and ALS, but indicate the trouble I am having is coming from my back. I still have some testing to go and will undoubtedly need physical therapy. Thank God the worst is over! Scary times are definitely sweetened with gratitude! I am so thankful for the prayers of the faithful and the love and support of friends and family. You know who you are – THANK YOU!
